Looking for a new Big game Rifle

Why not a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight? It comes in both .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor. Then there's the Model 70 Extreme Weather SS as well if you are concerned about hunting in 'extreme' conditions. Controlled round feed and won't break the bank like some of the suggestions on here. Yes, I own one. Outstanding in every respect. Also, based on your budget, you'll have at least $2k left for an optic.

I'm a big fan of the model 70, but nothing is featherweight about the the featherweight

There are some new T3X's that aren't in the stores yet, 3 new models this year, mightily impressed with the T3X action.. I used a 338WM 700 KS Mtn rifle for wandering up and down the hills here and in BC for many years, as well as a BDL 7-08 that has a McMillan stock on it and now has a Triggertech in it. Model 7 fixed up with a Triggertech or similar and a good stock would leave extra loot for a really good scope. These days I'm partial to a Merkel K1 also, very light and super nice to carry.

Have a look at a Browning X-Bolt. Buddy and I were in the same boat and both got one.
Comfortable to carry and very accurate. The Hells Canyon is awesome!

Browning A-bolt II in 325 WSM and of course a Leupold in 3.5-10 x 40mm.
Iffen big game is your quarry you want bigger is better for that knock down power when you need it.
Aim small, miss small and you are golden.

well both interesting comments

I ended up with a 325WSM in a Browning X Bolt but its the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation edition

nice rifle but likely more then you will need in Quebec.

ammo is hand load only and even then finding brass is problematic.

indeed the browning X bolt new series have been talked about a lot. its well worth to see the first hand and see how they are. as for quebec standards it is indeed more then enough. but i plan on expanding my hunts across north america this coming year

A kimber of your choice and a leupold vx3i of your of choice the 308 win will do it all as you know .308 is capable of taking any game out to 350-400 yards if need be . The only other caliber I would look at would be a :80 Rem or a 280 ack

I have a Kimber Adirondack in 308 , light, comfortable, excellent trigger, accurate. It is a pleasure to carry and shoot. Also a Kimber Montana 30-06, a pure joy both of them and worth every dime
