Hi all...yeah,looking for a new toy to play with...regularly use a G17C,and was thinking on trying something with a slimmer frame, and maybe not polymer..?Leaning tward a Beretta 92,but not settled on it....Lots of S&W M&P 9's in the EE but hardly any 92 types....What's with all the S&W's ?...any issues with them?
My hands aren't teeny, but not baseball mitts too,....oh and I shoot left,so ambedextrous would be ideal in a new pistol,..suggestions?.

M&P is pretty inexpensive, reliable, and customization.

Why 92 ? Trigger on the 92 is meh at best it has ergonomics of a 2X4 and crappy safety location.

Why not go down a differnt road and get CZ or a Tanfo, sig 320. Maybe get a single action trigger gun like a 1911.

Not sure of the 92 dimensions, but it feels a lot fatter in my hand than a G17. There are lots of steel alternatives. Why not try a 1911. Then you can argue both sides on the weekly "Glock vs 1911" thread.

For the record, I exclusively own and use g17 and 1911s.

Beretta 92s aren't exactly " slimmer framed". And the M&P is still a polymer gun.
I agree with FrankieT that a 1911 is a good choice. Maybe a Browning HP or CZ 75 family. But definitely 1911 for a slimmer feel due to the single stacked mag.

Yup, I have only ever shot one 1911, the Sig 1911-22 that I own, but it is my favorite gun to hold, fits my hand perfectly. I would love to try one in a 9 or 45 because I think I could easily become a " 1911 guy"
I am also a lefty, and shoot an FNS9LS as my 9mm, very lefty friendly and similar grip angle to the 1911, however also polymer, and close to the Glock in frame size.
I have been lusting after a Colt Competition in 9mm but I'm afraid to hold one because I know I would put it on a credit card and the wife would kill me :)

I agree with the CZ comments and if you are in the HRM area and want to try a shadow, PM me and we can get together at either AMA or Scotia Gun Club...you bring the bullets :)

Thanks guppie1160,I am not too far from u,..for the record..I have owned a CZ85,BHP,and have a 1911 here, the 1911 has been hijacked by my son however..just looking for something a little different ala G17,...Taurus 24/7 in .40 an option?..

.40 cal is a bit pricier to shoot and definitely snappier. Some people like the recoil, others not so much. For punching paper, anything will do. The Taurus 24/7 is not common here and Taurus products are not held in very high regard. They win on price point, like the Girsan or Hi Point.
You originally said no polymers but if you want something " ala" G17, then try the SIG P320, the Walther Q Match and hopefully the, yet unreleased, CZ P10.
Also, look at the Grand Power line, the Arsenal Strike One Speed, the SIG P210. These are all slimmer guns.

I shoot 40 exclusively. I don't find it that much worse then a 9mm in Glock format. If you are a fan of single action and don't mind 40 try a Tanfoglio match. Irunguns have them pretty cheap and trigger is decent and ergo is pretty good

I have a M57 Tokarev; brand new, nicely finished functions flawlessly, less that $300.00 and the only plastic is the grips. Lots of noise that you "feel", fireball, and a bit of jump too. Cheap fun!

If you really want cheap, great ergo' and great trigger...try the Canik tp9sa of tp9sf elite...fits all your requirements and are great shooters....otherwise.im with the Cz or p320 with a small frame crew.....

The thing I hate about the Beretta 9mm's is that they WIIIIING!!! their empties - put 'em in Low-Earth Orbit - don't stand to the right of somebody shooting a Beretta, don't let anybody stand to the right of you if you get one...

Weird. We went to one impromptu reloading course, after which we went down to the range and shot-off all the ammo we'd loaded. My wife has tiny hands and champagne tastes; and the two pistols she liked most and shot best were both .45's, a Norc and (most of all) a High Point!

If you're looking for poly, grab yourself a CZ P09. Have tried them all, and was once a big 1911 guy...not as much anymore. One of the most highly underrated firearms.

Ok,..had a chance to handle an M&P and the SD9 at a show last weekend,...and decided to pick up the M&P....who stocks accessories for this pistol?..Namely Apex parts?...
