Looking for a new scope

Hi everyone. I'm looving to put a new scope on my .223 Savage 10FP. Trying to get a decent scope for a decent price. Looking at 4-12x in Nikon Prostaff and a Vortex. Anyone out there use either of these and can give me an opinion? Read quite a few internet reviews and they can go either way.

For Vortex I would go with a Viper or Viper HS line. Best bang for your buck. If $$ is the concern, the new Crossfire II scopes are a huge improvement in quality over the original Crossfire scopes.
 
I have a Nikon Prostaff and it is one of the best scopes that I have for clarity. The glass is simply outstanding for the price point. It compares to Burris & the better Bushnell's for O/A quality but the image seems very clear comparatively.
 
are you planning on doing any long range shooting...if so, go with something in the higher magnification group of scopes....6-24 power or an 8-32....easier to see them little holes :D
