Looking for a pistol club in Ontario – membership, Olympic-style competition, and rentals, so I can get an exemption letter

Hi everyone,

I’m not sure the best spot to post this. I’m hoping to get some recommendations on pistol clubs in Ontario that might be a good fit for what I’m looking for.
Ideally, I’m searching for a club that:
- Is accepting new members

• Hosts (or is affiliated with) officially Olympic-sanctioned shooting competitions
• Issues exemption letters
• Offers a pistol rental or borrowing program

For a bit of background, I’m a licensed firearm owner with both restricted and non-restricted privileges. I own long guns and have plenty of shooting experience, and I’m very comfortable with range safety and etiquette. I’m mainly looking to get more involved with pistol shooting in a structured, well-run club environment.

If anyone has suggestions, personal experiences, or clubs I should look into (or even ones to avoid), I’d really appreciate the insight.

Ontario is big but I sold a 22 handgun to someone at the Waterloo county revolver association on an exemption and I understand that they participate in competitions with an eye towards getting exemptions.

They did mention people competing while working towards exemptions so there must be some sort of borrowing svheme.

We are part of that same program in Milverton, affiliated with Elmira Club for this year; hoping to have our own for next year; yes, we have pistols to borrow but persons must have a RPAL and Club Level Handgun Safety Training to participate.

In our League there is Wentworth in Hamilton and Burlington clubs; I am sure there are some other leagues as well.

The Burlington Rifle and Revolver Club had a very active and competitive handgun section and members were involved in Inter county leagues. During my membership there while I lived nearby in Hamilton we sent teams to the provincial and national championships. Several members competed and won at the international level. Some of our Master Class shooters have since passed away but if any of us are reincarnated we will all meet there again and be happy to coach you at the BRRC.
