Hi,

I'm looking for a 9mm pistol I could use in IPSC. I'm new to the sport and don't want to spend a whole lot of money and I'm wondering what I should get. If anybody could direct me or have something that might interest me, that would be great.

helpful hints

Go for a Glock or an S&W M&P, production is the way to start in IPSC and the holsters wont cost you alot of money. Who are you taking the black badge course with?

Wow, just curious here.... but how did you get involved into IPSC wihout having done this research before ? Like models of guns and where to buy:confused:

For Norinco products best bet is :

Armco and Marstar. They have a banner on this website. At the top of every page you'll see a bunch of different companies advertising. Clic on their banners and check out their websites.

And no matter what anybody tells you about Norinco products. Trust me when i say that they are very good for the money. If your on a tight budget. Buying a Norinco pistol and getting it tuned up by Gunnar at Armco is a great way to start. That being said. Stick with the 1911 or Sig copies made by Norinco. Not that the others are bad or anything. It's just that they are more popular and more people have bought and tested them and the feedback is very good. Lately there have been good comments coming in about their CZ copies.

But if your going to be getting serious and getting involved in IPSC. I would definately recomend you doing alot of reading and searching for the right type of pistol. There are lots of different dealers that are not mentioned on this website so search search on search some more. I would also recomend you go to a local gunshop and handle a few pistols so you get an idea what feels comfortable in your hand.

Im just curious here, have you ever fired a handgun before? I don't want you to think that I'm giving you a hard time or anything. I'm just curious. :)

And I just happen to have some....

A good way to start, as others have mentioned, is Production Division, and there are three pretty good choices here that won't break the bank and can be used for just general shooting as well as IPSC. Pick a 9mm as then even factory ammo is dirt cheap :)

Really nice, current model Glock 17 with two mags - $595

Brand new CZ75, box, 2 mags - $699

And of course, a brand new Glock 17 at $749

Tax and shipping extra...

I'd read up on the rules (yeah, me reading IPSC rules:rolleyes: ) and try attending a league night in your area.
I'd try to get a sense of which division (and what pistol) you'd like to shoot in.
Combat Masters is a good source for ammunition, and its in our back yard.:)

Go with the CZ-85 Combat. It has adjustable sights. There is a brand new one in the EE for $795 with no tax and shipping included.
