Hi Guys,

I have Crosman 1377C pistol, and I'm using it at 3-4 pumps for some quiet target shooting. I was wondering if someone could recommend a .177 cal rifle, preferably a springer or a pneumatic - don't really want the hassle of extra cartridges - that would be as quiet as the 1377 pumped 3-5 times.

Has to be under 500fps. I want it strictly for target shooting. Preferably under $200 :)

Thanks!

I bought a cheap Crossman Phantom break barrel .177 just to shoot out in the backyard and it's plenty fun and pretty quiet. Back end sight elevation screw doesn't always stay where you leave it if you bump it around but it's a solid built pellet gun.

More than likely, this one will fit the bill - quiet, accurate and priced right.

I have the Diana 24 as well. It is nice as they come for a budget under 500 fps. The nitro piston crosman is a big heavy beast, but it is quite. I would say the 24 is a better made product.

Slavia 630 / 631 is a solid option for <$200

Ayup.

And if you really want to, you can do a few things that will make it smoother and quieter, altogether much more civilized to shoot. Most of the work is just cleaning it out and adding a couple special lubricants to the spring and piston, but while it's open, it's not a bad thing to de-burr the parts and generally smooth stuff out. Sometimes a new spring guide is in order.

Same goes for any spring-piston air gun. Read up on Tar and Spring Lube on the airgun sites.

Pretty decent built, not too cheap feeling airguns, the Slavia's.

Cheers

I like the youth models, slavia 624 or diana 22, they are lighter, a little less power, super quiet handle easy store in a drawer and are accurate too boot.

I have/had the slavia 630, 631, 624, 620, 621 Diana 24, 34 and the 22, along with many FWB;s and Walther LGR's my highest recommendation is the diana 22. for under $200.... if you can find one.

I will not argue that the Diana and the Slavia aren't good guns, but don't discount the Daisy 953. A lot of people get dime sized groups at 20-25 yards with them and they're available at Walmart usually. Then again, the Diana will be passed down to your grandkids if you take care of it.

Daisy 953 ( http://www.dlairgun.com/Air-Rifles/Daisy/010_953.html ) Good gun with either a scope or the available aperture sights.

(Oop! I posted before reading all the thread.)
