I'm on the look out for the 16" barrel version of the Chinese SKS - it was called the paratrooper variant and was identicle to a regular SKS except the barrel was shorter.

Anyone have one for sale or know where I can get one of these?

Norinco made several models of SKS rifles back in the 80s. I believe one of them was a Paratrooper model, yet was a consumer rifle and never used by Paratroopers, IIRC.

Same concept as the Tanker Garand. Not a real military production, just done locally, by collector, or by importer to push sales or for hobbyist purposes

pretty rare up here (plenty in the USA) , those who have them are hoarding them .

i only saw 1 came up for sale on EE in the last 3 years .

I had one back in the mid 90's, at least thats what the seller told me the variant was called.

It was NORINCO manufactured and used AK magazines (just like the SKS-D) and a shorter barrel. Don't recall what the barrel length was but it was non-restricted at the time I purchased it. Purchased from Wolverine at a local gun show. It also had a crudely made (standard ChiCom fit and finish) light colored monte carlo stock (raised cheek piece) and bayonet (and lug) was absent.

Sold it just prior to C-68, wish I had kept it. Especially seeing the prices that a SKS-D commands these days.

Its the only one I ever saw, good luck in your search.

There were several Chinese Paratrooper models
made for export too the U.S.
The SKS M, Sporter, Cowboy Companion(with scope),
type84, standard Paratrooper and other variants.

Yep, was never an active service rifle and more of a sales gimmic for the consumer market.....nevertheless, they are a good collectors item and hard to come by......I want one :)

I've only seen one, it was for sale at a gun show a few years back so they are out there.Looked very cool with the short barrel but passed on it because of restricted status. I bought a 18.5 inch SKS-M instead.

I saw one some years ago. I believe that it got rebarrelled to remove it from restricted status.

It was pretty crude, as said, they are not a legit milsurp, they are an importer created piece.
