Hi there, i just took out a couple of packs of moose ribs, from this fall past moose hunt, i didnt know how they were cut, in my suprise they are cut into small peices like spare ribs. Great for slow cooker right! Except ive never cooked moose ribs in the slow cooker before, so anyone got any favorites that they want to share???(MommaBear) hint hint, lol
My wife is not big on moose so that is another factor, how to marinade them before cooking to acheive a great taste thats not too gamey, which shouldnt be a problem , its from the 4 pointer i shot, and the rest of the meat, is like butter, so smooth and tastey!!

Thanks RR

Sear sizzle them in hot oil and chopped onions in a cast pan. Once seared place them in slow cooker (onions oil and all) with a can or bottle of ale for moisture. Add black pepper and salt to taste. Once they start to cook add a jar of PACE salsa and leave them for six hours. Once cooked serve with dirty rice, flax bread and the rest of the case of ale.

cheers Darryl

in a slow cooker you need nothing more than a littlle tlc,a bottle of beer some chopped onions, oil or pork fat. i wouldn,t bother searing ,throw in crock pot for the day and enjoy at the end of the day. the wife won,t know if it,s moose or beef.

---mine does,nt

Here's one that uses steak but you could substitute ribs.

Crock pot Moose steak and Gravy

2 lbs. moose round steak
1/3 cup flour
1 envelope brown gravy mix
1 envelope onion soup mix
12 oz. Beer

Cut steak into serving pieces; dredge in flour, set aside. Add remaining flour, soup mix, gravy mix and beer to crock-pot and mix well. Add steak and cook 10-12 hrs.

I LOVE!!! my slow cooker ! Always a hot meal ready when everyone gets home from work or school. ( Mind you if I had it my way... we'd be living out in the North , wide open spaces, beautiful ranch style home, large land for gardening and such. And of course you open your back door to open fields and see wild critters) Note to self.. buy lottery ticket!..lol

Anyhew.. back to reality... place a roast of deer or moose ect., into slow cooker.. take a small knife and poke several holes in. Peel a whole bulb of garlic, separate cloves and place cloves into the holes. Peel and chop a large onion.. put in slow cooker around the roast.. add 1/4 cup dry red wine.. 1 tbsp basil ..
Set the cooker for a slow cook of 8 hours . When you walk in the door after work ... ahhhhh the aroma is heaven , meat is tender.. you want to dig in right away.. but it would be nice to have some nice steamed vegy's with it.. it's really good , enjoy

slow cooker is where it's at, moose ,venison, duck, goose. 1 moose roast or a few steaks, 1 can cream of mushroom soup, 1 pack onion soup mix, 1 soup can of water and 1/2 can of beer add a bit of flour after roast is done for gravy. the longer it cooks the more tender it is. for ducks. breast out or leave ducks whole(this works best for teal and woodies). parboil for 1/2 hour.remove skin. put in sloow cooker with 1 cup orange juice and 1 cup white wine and a few good shakes of poultry seasoning. add more wine and orange juice as needed. serve with potato of choice, veg and a wisers on the rocks.
