Does anyone know of a North American source for small Torx screws? CGN Sponsors tend to not have such small parts and in general Torx seem to more prevalent/available in Europe.

I'm looking for small quantities (about 12) of small Torx scews (M3 or M4) to replace current hex key screws on some rifle scopes I have.

I'd love to find an assortment box but I cannot even find a US/Canadian source for even a couple. I've found some in the UK but shipping is incredible.

I hate Hex screws. They should be banned like asbestos. Invariably I either strip my hex key or the screw head or both. Even a Phillips or Robinson would be better than Hex.

What scope rings do you have? You mention M3 and M4 screws... I have never come across that size in my life. An odd European set of rings?

6 x 40 and 8 x 40 are two common sizes for North American rings, and of course 6 x 48 for the majority of rifles including many European rifles. All available from Brownell's.

There is a reason 'gun screws' are not often found at industrial suppliers... no market to support them...

Ive used Multi-Line Fastener Co. in Mississauga On. for years, they have a very good selection of odd hard to find hardware. Plus they can usually find it if they don't carry it.

Try Western Gun Parts, or maybe one of the generic screw sets on the markets, google Pachmayr gun screw set.

I never said scope rings. My current project involves replacing the set/locking screws in the turret caps of two Hi-Lux scopes I have. Each cap has two M3-8 (as best as I can figure out from the online specifications for Torx Cap Head screws.

I removed one screw from my scope and confirmed the tread (Metric M3) on a small thread tool I have from Lee Valley.

I am sitting here looking at some M2 screws. Dubro racing makes them as well as other suppliers carry them. They are commonly used on radio controlled vehicles, helicopters and such.Google RTLfasteners.com....or check hobby shops like hobby alley, hobby wholesale, hobby king...Most suppliers of industrial only carry to a M3 size. For different sizes and pitchs try rc hobby stores.

Hell of an idea. Thanks.

Lynds E Enterprises in Truro, NS.

Every type of screw, wing nut or anything for that matter they have had a box of onsite. They can take whatever you bring in out of your pocket, size it and give options. Call to find out.

Fastenal, Acklands ?

I think fastenal stopped dealing with walk in customers, no account no deal.

Auclands might be able to get some, but it would likely be special order.

I don't see the problem with hex screws though. They only strip if you use the wrong size key (usually the closest imperial size on a metric fastener or visa versa) in my experience...
