Was there ever a 590A1 that was 18.5" 8 capacity, ghost rings, but NOT speed feed stock?

I thought maybe a long time ago there was and now I don't see one anywhere, the closest i guess would be the blackwater, but I have never heard anything good about the speeded stock

Ive never sold anything on the EE and currently don't have access. guess thats why it didn't come to mind. any idea how much that might go for?

Don't think many would pay $80 for a Speedfeed stock... they drop shells better than holding them (unless they've improved them recently).

I will second the 18.5" 590A1 as I like it's balance over the 20" model.

18.5" are 5+1 though unless an aftermarket extention is used.
Speedfeed stock is alright, just don't use the shell holders. Otherwise it fits fine and looks good. I put Magpul on both my Mossberg shotguns though.

Yes, I was wondering this as well... I don't see any 18.5" 590A1's with flush 'long tubes' from the factory. The one I had was 5+1. If there is one that is currently on their website with a flush tube, please post.

Yes, I was incorrectly mixing things up with the 8 capacity.

I guess this is probably the closest to what I'm looking for, and then add a tube extension and magpul stock.

It will be cheaper in the long run to get the 20". Unsure if a +2 extension will fit flush on the 18.5"... pretty sure I had this conversation before on the extensions. If you want the extra capacity, just get the 20" with full mag tube.

The 20" 590a1 model (with ghost rings, 8 round tube) has the factory model number of 51663, and the 18.5" model (with ghost rings, but only 5 round tube) has the factory model number 51517. Just google mossberg and each number (separately) and it should take you to exactly the firearm that you are looking for!

Thanks for that EL34, that may have been what I was thinking of cuts i was pretty sure it was 8 not 8+1.

Im also thinking I may just want a "stock" 590A1 18.5", no ghost sights.

The speed feed stock is not particularly useful in all honesty as a shell source, but it really doesn't make any difference for functionality compared to the standard stock. I have on a couple of occasions used it, just to store some extra slugs for example so I don't get a mix up with birdshot on my belt carriers, but I've never needed to use it in a shotgun competition. Unless you are really hard up on the look of the stock I wouldn't worry about it and get the 8+1 model with speed feed.

KRJ, I bought the 590A1 model #51517 (18.5" barrel, regular stock, ghost ring sights, 5+1 capacity) for deer and turkey hunting. Tactical Ordnance is threading the barrel for Rem Choke tubes.

I originally intended to buy a 28" Mossberg 835 barrel, but they cost too much ($225 CAD) compared to just buying a complete Mossberg 500 with a 28" barrel.

Additionally, I would have to unscrew the rear sight and put dummy screws in the receiver every time I wanted to put the 835 barrel on. Then reverse the process to switch back. Not impossible to manage, but if I only need to spend a few more dollars, I will opt for the convenience of a separate 28" barrelled shotgun.

Yeah, I would image the sighting could be a little goofy with ghost rings never gave that a thought. I personally hate ghost rings and see no use to them other to increase you tactcool factor. I would think however you could maybe put a tall post or ring on the front of a 835 barrel which would be easier than removing the rail.

How much did it cost to get the barrel threaded? I don't see that option as being much cheaper that could be ignorance on my behalf. 835 barrel comes with a choke tube. So to thread and purchase a choke tube. I would think it would work out close to the same. I have no real idea on costs and this is just a guess.
