Looking for someone in the Williams Lake area to show me the ropes of hunting and gutting black bear. My schedule is kinda screwy since I work 4 days on and 4 days off and don't own a pickup anymore but Im ready and willing to learn.

Have you gutted a deer? same thing. I did my first bear by myself when I was 21 years old. Shoot a small one if you dont have a quad or truck LOL they are better tasting anyways.

Might not be the best way to do it but better then nothing. If you have an ipod touch or something simular you can always load up some good videos and/or pictures on how to do it.

roll him on his back, start at the sternum, insert knife, being careful not to puncture the gut sack, from this point onwards, cut from the inside of the hide, pulling upwards on your knife, and down towards the crotch. (Or use your gut hook) If using a regular knife, put two fingers in along side the tip, to protect the gut sack.
Cut around the dangly bits, and the arsehole. (Or get the arsehole to stand back )
Trim back the diaphragm, and tie off the bladder, and large intestine so they won't leak. Work the arsewhole through the opening you created when you cut around it, and pull out to the rest of the guts. (You may have to catch the guy first )
Roll on his side, and pull and trim until the guts are removed.
Make a small incision in the neck. Pull out the wind pipe. Sometimes you can pull it completely away from the lungs and out this opening, if not, just cut it.
Reach up into the chest, and pull the lungs, and windpipe out.
Rescue any guts you want to eat.
Wipe down the cavity, you've gutted a bear.

Be aware that the long hair on a bear can make a gut hook useless. Look for one with a wide hook opening if you plan to use one.
