Ammo is a bit scarce. You might look into that before deciding what to get.
The SVT 40 is a bit of a chore to clean when using corrosive ammo too.

P&S Militaria has the best selection of SVT-40 rifles. All three arsenals -Tula, Izhevsk, Kovrov. Naval, marine & standard stocks. Side milled receiver, Sniper milled receiver (with the cross-cut) and guns with no milling on the receiver. Early model and late model. Prices range from $350 to $600 depending on what flavor you choose.

Reload for it. Surplus fouls these things pretty good, and as mentioned above, the complete dis-assembly is a bit of a PITA.

P&S also carries a modern take on the SVT-40 scope mount (need a side milled receiver) to mount modern optics.

Buy one, you'll like it.

Ok if that was easy then where can I get an SKT-40?

One thing you can do is invent time machine and travel back it time to see how many was produced. And if you there hide one somewhere in Siberia.
If that does not work, travel to Russia and promise to someone connected to firearm business to see if they can find it. But make sure you have about 20 000-50 000 for it.
Ok that was a joke.
:):D
Realistically speaking as was prototype for submarines and some might actually made out of the factories. You might see one on display in museum in Russia. There is some prototype on display in Moscow or Tula don't remember now.
Some cool rifles that were design by Russians constructors but never approved by Soviet government are there.
My best favorite is semi-auto rifle that resembles Tokarev design but was design by Simonov. They actually compete together for approval. Tokarev won.
It was known that Tokarev was well known and loved by Stalin, also he was older then Simonov and well respected by firearm producing ""CB"".
Official reason is Simonov rifle pin broke during testing, unofficial Tokarev had more connection in USSR.
Simonov rifle was more simple, bolt was the same design as you see on SKS at the later date.
Anyways if it was not for favoritism in communist Russia we would see a lot of SKS look alike with long barrels during WW2 and not SVT.

So who has the massive secret supply of the bayonets that go with the SVT-40s only to hit the market when the price is beyond premium? They built SVTs, there was bayos to go with the same number of rifles.

I've always heard that the extra mags and bayonets are long gone. It's easier to get small things out, compared to whole rifles.

Wouldn't make any difference. They would have ended up like the SA marked SVT-40's - Somebody like Globe would have got their paws on them, chopped off the muzzle break, re-bored to .308 and sold them as a package deal with the "Cowboy's Companion".

Skirsons still couldn't have one ;)
