Hi,

I went through the sites in the FAQ section but they just deal with terms, without getting into full details. Are there any info sites that could help explain the different parts of guns, and their purpose. From magazines/rails/uppers/lowers the different type of sights etc. I want to understand all the parts of a rifle/handgun while I wait for the pal/rpal process to complete.

Are there any sites out there that will give details and descriptions and good information on that? Thanks.

Welcome to CGN!!

I don't know of any specific sites offhand. However, Google has been a tremendous help to me. Depending on what you are looking for, there are many sites with detailed information about specific guns, ammo, parts, etc. But, there isn't an all-in-one site that I know of.

ok thanks, ya I have been having a hard time finding it. I see people talking about a lot of terms here, and I'd like to understand the function of them in the gun instead of looking up each term I thought there might be 1 site that had it all. Thanks!

When I decided to study for my license, I got a lot of use out of the Gun Exams website. It's a simple (.com) address. There's practice exams for free and fairly comprehensive tests for a very reasonable cost. I think it was $30. I had nobody nearby to tutor me and this site helped my pass my PAL/RPAL on my first attempt.

If you want a comprehensive breakdown on individual firearms, I'd recommend the Gun Disassembly app. Extremely detailed and free to download if you've got an Android. 10 guns for free and another 50 you can purchase. I bought three for $1.99 (SKS, Rem 870, Moss 500). It came with the Tokarev TT33 and 1911, so it was already useful before I bought the others. It strips the gun down to the very last pin and spring and provides x-ray operation views as well.

Good luck.

Any gun I see or hear about, I search on YouTube, always someone on there doing a review, showing all details how to breakdown and clean. Almost everything you want to know including ammo testing of dif cartridges. Just search the ones that interest you the most.

I don't know of any specific sites for information. Try manufacturers sites for guns you are interested in. Brownells also has schematic diagrams for a lot of different firearms with links built in to many of the parts that will take you to their catalog and tell you what the part is called and how much to buy it.

ht tp://www.brownells.com/schematics/index.htm

Just take out the space between the t's.

If your wondering about something specific just ask here. You'll probably get a few smart a** answers but should also get pointed in the right direction by someone. Lots of knowledgeable members here.
