Hello I'm looking to get my first gun to get my black badge with and try some IPSC events.

I'm moving up from a sig mosquito and I'm use to the da/sa feel.

I'm leaning towards x5 all round da/sa champion package that comes with 5 mags mag holders, holster, and belt. Is this everything I need to take the black badge course and shoot ipsc? I think this in 9mm would allow me to shoot production class.

I don't plan on shooting too many events due to work. But would like to train with a holste.

Is there any thing to practice before black badge so I don't show up with bad habits when shooting and reloading mags

Thanks

Talk to a bb instructor or experienced shooter first and ask them to show you a proper grip and then practice shooting from the bench with some strong hand and weak hand practice. Don't practice the draw or speedy stuff, just work on the fundamentals and get to know the gun.

That's not a bad combination to start with and will feel close to what you are used to. Best thing to practice is straight bullseye shooting , get to know the gun and get it dialed in as far as sights and load goes. Also become used to the transition between double and single action. The reason for this if you are going to shoot production your first shot MUST be double action. Do not practice drawing from a holster UNLESS you get some quality instruction from somebody that knows what they are doing. As an instructor the biggest problem I have is to break bad habits, some well meaning friends without realizing it pass along their habits. As I said shoot the gun. put at least 1000 rds through it before you take your Black Badge. This will make you very familiar with it, make you reasonably accurate, and break in the gun.
