I am not trying to start a flame war here I just want some honest advice . I am looking to build a long distance rifle and I currently own a Norc M305 ( new from the Marstar shipment 2 years back ?) .

I have made some deals to gather the starting pieces for my build , however before I go placing some good money parts on a rifle . Is it worth it to purchase a Springfield M1A?

The reason I ask is that I have never held a M1A and the pics I have seen make it look like it did via WW2 , nice fit and finish etc, etc.

Are the two comparable or is there a certain feature which makes one outshine the other , I am asking about pure mechanical function, not he crappy paint or the stock ( which will be replaced ) .

Thanks in advance .
Cheers,

I have BOTH Norc M14 and M1A. I like building them up on a budget...accurizing things on the cheap and doing the tweaks myself; all I will show this to you at the clinics. Or maybe another Funker Tactical episode..

Buy an LRB receiver from ARMTAC and build a nice rifle with USGI parts from the EE ... ;) Or purchase a Springfield M1A as they rock ... I also have a norc but it's tweaked with all USGI parts mainly. I have a stock NORC I just got recently from a friend as a gift ... they're all good and fun to shoot or build!

p.s. if you wanna build a tac-driver then talk to SKULLBOY on cost and parts ... ;)

Depends on your financial situation as well. I love tinkering on my Norc but if I had lots of spare $$$ I wouldn't mind having a S.A...or maybe i'd just buy more Norc's ;-)

I would take a lrb over either anyday. For the price though you get a forged receiver and chrome lined barrel with Norcinco, just have to get lucky and find one that went through quality control

Photo's will be posted later this weekend of something that was built under $2000 and will make bolt's jelious with envy :p
