I am looking for some advice / suggestions on good airguns for pest control and informal target shooting. I would like to stay under $200 to start with and have the option of being able to mount a scope as well. It would need to have a good trigger that is comparable to my centerfire rifles (Sako TRG) and be used as an inexpensive training rifle.

I am open to 177 or 22 although I have never used one of the latter.

I found this online which looks intersting but may be somewhat pricey. http://www.gunmart.net/video/bsa_scorpion_t10/

Thanks in advance for the help.

Under $200 makes it difficult to find a air rifle with a nice trigger.
Diana 34 is a great rifle that will get you close to that mark. Very reliable, lots of information out there on it.

This^^ A lot of this^^^

Essentially, that budget restricts you to pretty low end stuff. Or spending a LOT of time stripping, rebuilding, massaging, and tuning a low end rifle into a better low end rifle.

A decent quality air gun is as expensive or more so to build, as the equivalent quality fire arm.

But once you shoot a real quality airgun, you'll be spoiled for going back to the toys that are foisted off as such.

Take a look at the D&L Airguns site. Decent selection, reasonable prices, lots to choose from.

I bought my Benjamin Trail NP XL1100 from D&L Airgun and could recommend them to anyone.
If you are looking for a "hunting" rifle you will want to stick to the higher FPS airguns. The new Nitro Piston is much quiter than many other airguns of the same FPS rating and is reportedly not subject to spring fatigue or climate change like many other springers.

You could likely get away with the Benjamin Trail NP ALL WEATHER with is rated at 960fps in .22, comes with scope and after your break in period should last you a long time. Or you can spend a bit more && and do what I did and get yourseld into the 1100.

If you want to go cheap, the Crossman Quest 500x is on sale all the time at TSC or Canadian Tire and EASY to mod if you want to bump up the FPS for hunting.
