Looking for advice on a MINOX monocular with integrated compass

I was in Cabelas today, looking for a pair of binoculars or a monocular around 8 or 10 power in the 250 - 300 dollar price range, and I stumbled across something at the far side of the display case: "MINOX Monocular Black MD 7x42 C" A nice seeming monocular with an integrated compass. The integrated compass really intrigued me.

I nearly bought it immediately, but I figured I ought to go online and read some reviews before I do, but I haven't had much luck finding anything out about it.

I'm not very experience with optics, so I would appreciate any advice on this specific product or anything else that fits my needs.
 
Look for it on the website of site sponsor CameraLandNY. They are likely to have it at a good price, quite possibly better than Cabela's and it isn't a weapon sight or night vision device so they won't have a problem exporting it.
 
It is a nice piece for sure. It is intended for the boaters but can be used for various other purposes. It does have the rangefinding reticle as well, typically a mildot.
