Looking for advice on action for build

I'm planning on building a multi purpose rifle for targets and hunting. I'm looking for advice on which action to go with on this one. Other than trying to find a cheap Remington and have it trued up has anyone done builds on the vanguard or tikka actions? Both seem smooth, well made and can be easily found for a decent price. I know there isn't as many accessories for these but they seem nicer made than an equally priced 700. I want to put this action into a McMillan stock and I'm ok with either a bdl or mag bottom metal.

I built one vanguard it shot like a house on fire. Worked with a few tikkas nothing wrong with that route either, just upgrade the bottom metal bolt shroud and recoil lug.

Personally if I was going to do another build I would go right back to the Barnard action (hirsch precision), simply the nicest smoothest action I have ever cycled.

Thanks for the comments. I'm going to take my time deciding but by then I might just go all the way and get a custom action. For a rifle that I'm going to keep for many years it's not that much more really.

have a look at the atlas action, larger loading port then a remington long action and in a short action to boot, perfect for loading heavy bullets out to the lands without having to give up all the case capacity to eject a loaded round, even the magazine will accommodate longer then normal ammo
