A friend of mine passed away last November, and his wife has been trying to sell his collection of various types of guns.
One gun in particular is a Sako TRG-22 in 308 win. There is a Valada-IOR Bucuresti 4-28x56 tactical scope mounted on the gun. There is also a set of dies. It was bought new about a year ago.
His wife is trying to determine the how to go about selling and determining a value. Any help and advice would be appreciated. I am not up on this type of rifle, so I too would be learning. Thanks.

$3000 for the rifle if its in new condition. $2000 for the optics and mounts. Just a guess.

3K is pretty high for the rifle IMO. TSE has them new for $3,200.00, and that is the phosphate highest priced one. Add 5%, and you are out the door. Of course, mounts/bipods, etc can add up, but I think 3 for the rifle new would be a hard sell.

Thanks for the reply, His wife told me they paid $6500 new, including a set of dies, 3 powder bushings, a rail for the easy mounting and removal of the scope, bi-pod, a sniper data book and two boxes of shells, and gst.
I think your pretty close with the estimate, appreciate it, thanks.

Thanks for the reply, there is a bi-pod mounted on it. Would the bi-pod have been come with the gun, or is that considered an add on? Appreciate the input.

The bipod can come supplied with the rifle if purchased as a package or separately.

If your's came in a package, it likely included: Rifle, muzzle brake, bipod, 2 or 3 magazines, rail and case.

The bipod alone is retailing for around $600 in Canada (far above what it should go for)...

pictures and more details of it would be great. If it's a Sako bipod $500 used is typical if it's not a Sako, probably only $125 for the bipod. books and such have probably got little value to them, unless new. If she gets $5000-$5500 for the whole thing she'll be doing well. Green ones are usually worth a few dollars more these days.

here you go!

I was down at the store today. It looks like it has the Sako Bi-Pod. Just at a quick glance I think it also has a Sako 20 MOA rail with all the built in recoil lugs. I think the rail is close to 300 bucks on it's own.

New at P&D the Blued TRG 22 (non-phosphorus) is $2950, rail $300, bi-pod $600, scope is 2600 (usd) plus the rings and muzzle brake.

That puts it at right around $6500. The dude told me someone offered her $4500 and she turned it down, if that helps. Maybe she will take $4750

She turned that down too.

I wouldn't take less that $5500 for the whole works.
However, she may have an easier time breaking up the package considering the economic environment we are in.

She turned that down too.

You guys should hook her up with a membership somewhere, and get her shooting it. The rifle has high end parts as listed above, but selling the rifle as a package is always rough. Scopes, especially high end ones, are very user specific. Some want hubble, some want portable, etc. With this rifle, there is also a bit of a spread in quality of mounts available. I can't tell what is on this one without removing it, or seeing it in person, but it is something I'd want to know before paying a portion of the ~300 they cost new.

Unless she splits the rifle/scope, the above offers are about what I'd expect it to go for on the EE in today's climate.
