Looking for advise on trigger improvement on Savage Model 12 ...

I'm definitely not trying to win anything, just trying to make my rifle more accurate. I've never fired a rifle with a match trigger but I have pulled the trigger on the match accutriggers and it's nice having the lighter pull because I feel like there would be less tension when squeezing off each shot.

I'm not sold on the idea, just doing my research before I drop 150$ on something. The current trigger does break nice and there is no creep, just feels a bit heavy.

The game I play, Target Rifle allows us here in Canada to go down to 1 Kg on the trigger. I keep mine up at the old weight of 3.5 lbs (same as the UK) and never have any problems. Try using the second pad on your trigger finger, you might find your trigger is light enough as is.

As Maynard suggested, the trigger is only one component of making good shots, try the second finger pad, it helped me a lot. Having said that, my experience with the AccuTrigger is love/dislike, so I switched it out.

I switched mine out to a Rifle Basix SAV-2, mostly because the AccuTrigger was being temperamental, and sometimes it would jam if set to light and the bolt thrown to hard, it's a safety feature of the setup.. I was told by a gunsmith that the engagement surface is very shallow on the sear, and if it gets dirty, that's the result. Now break it down, clean, rinse, repeat.

I have the Rifle Basix in my Savage Model 10 Action. My setup is for Precision Rifle, so it's set for 1 KG, 2.2 lbs - 2.5lbs. I don't notice the weight under match conditions, and it has not failed/locked up on me at all.

Your experience may be different.

I have the SSS trigger on one of my guns and the accutrigger on another, I really like the SSS. I've tried the the rifle basix, it's pretty good too. I didn't know the jewel was available for savage actions?

FWIW, my wife and I each have a model 12. Hers has the Target accutrigger set at 10 ish oz, mine with a RB SAV-2 set at 8oz. The accutrigger is very fussy set that low, any side pressure or inconsistent bolt closure and it disconnects. The RB doesn't care, but one needs to be careful with it set that low.
