I am looking to buy a 5.56mm AR much like a Diemaco C7. I want a 20" barrel and a full stock, not the collapsing style. So with all that being said what is my best bet in a new model?? I want it to be very origional much like what the Canadian military uses for their general infantry. Can we buy Diemaco's as a civilian?? If not what are some other good choices for a full size AR?? Thanks

If you search around all your questions will be answered...to sum up:
No you cannot have a Diemaco/Colt Canada. But any of the CGN vendors can get you a civilian equivalent that will more than fill your needs, not to mention the deals in EE right now.

The C7 that is issued to infantry units is the C7A2 model, which is a 20" Diemaco profile barrel on a flat-top receiver with a telescoping carbine butt scoped with an Elcan C79 sight.
You may (and may not) get green furniture for your rifle. Some rifles have black furniture that has just been painted od green. If you're really picky and want a C7A2 clone that is as close as possible to being an issue A2 go for the green parts. Remember though, the green parts are really only going to drive up the cost of your new rifle.
Also, if you really want to make an exact copy, you'll need all kinds of useless and expensive parts such as: an ambi charging handle (which is crap, breaks easily and is a pain to use); a rear receiver plate with sling loops (also crap, because the loops are too high), an ambi fire control selector; and an ambi mag release (more crap, since it lets your mag drop when you're marching or slinging or just looking at it the wrong way). Last and not least is the Tri-ad mount, which is more crap. If you can't find one, just tape a brick to your front sight post. Speaking of the front sight post, C7s use a round 0.050" post. You know, come to think of it, the only good part about the A2 is the telescoping butt. Even then, it sucks because it's a 4 position and not a 6 position. Also, toss in an Otis grip kit but without the cleaning kit.
Oh right, I forgot the accu-wedge. 
If you're really after replicating a C7A2, buy an accu-wedge aand when nobody's looking, huck the damned thing into the woods.
Any AR will do the job for you and any of the board sponsors will happily sell you the parts and receiver halves. My suggestion is to go with a 20" flattop upper on a carbine lower and scope it with an Elcan. All of the other parts are just junk that dont work together at all. Everyone who has the chance replaces the new parts for old style ones.

Ok sorry I should have stated I dont need an exact replica, I just want a full size with a 20" barrel. I also am trying to look for one with really nice open sights, I wanna learn to shoot well first!! What do you reccomend?? Thanks

What I'm about to say is semantics, so please don't take it as a slam. The sights you will get on an iron-sighted AR are actually "peep" sights as opposed to open sights. I've always preferred peep sights anyways.
Good on you for wanting to spend the time learning to shoot something without glass, and for not feeling the need for the shortest, newest, fanciest, tacti-kewl model. The time I spent improving my shooting on an iron-sighted, rifle-stocked, 20" no-frills C7 was time well spent.
I have to say, from what Craftsman is saying above, the C7A2 doesn't exactly sound like the best thing going. Maybe a C7A1 with a carbine-style butt would be preferable.
^^ I think you need some optics. I am positive there is a rule about having a "precision stock" ala Magpul PRS and a Carry Handle.... wheres the glass!!!? Oh and a 5/20 would be nice, along with a 12 or 13.5" rail and a low pro gas block, if your going the long range route that is...
The top one is a stag arms from Arms East bought new, I got the veteran pricing from Walter. I got the Elcan used from a member on the board, for $500.

I doubt you can wrong buying any of those rifles.
FYI: I bought the 20" to be able to practice with something as similar as my issued rifle as possible. Not that I regret it, but I find a 16" with a Vltor or a CTR would serve me much better.

Dunno. When I contacted Walter, I was still overseas, trying to spend some of my tour money. He admitted being a fan and gave me excellent service and a great price. I chalked it up "veterans pricing".
Just one word on ARs, up until the past 6 months I shot my AR...a lot, and was still kind of obsessed with the 20" platform, however for most civvy uses ie. matches, courses, and target shooting they are beginning to be a bit cumbersome. With much of the ammo and reloading practices available to shooters these days and the quality of most manufacturers barrels the 16.1" guns seem to be the way to go and you can cross the border with them too.

EDIT: Our backordered 20" Rifles should be here in a 7-10days. I don't think this bunch is going to last long, there is a call list though.
We've upped the regular order for 20" Service Rifles due to demand. People are shooting well with them which is leading to referral customers.
The 4R rifle is, IMO, a nice M16A4 clone. For a full C7A2 clone, talk to Craftsman, he loves them! LOL. (I like the C7 rounded front sight)
