Just looking for one to do some plinking. Does it really make much of a difference for Chinese vs Russian? Any years/manufactures to avoid?

Who has the best deal on just gun (not looking for a ton of ammo right now aka the marstar $75 SKS). The best deals I have find right now are SFRC Russian refurb for $170 but a local shop has some Chinese ones for $150.

Just got an SKS from a local dealer here in Edmonton yesterday. Paid $195 for a never issued Chinese military version. Everyone I spoke to says that there is NO difference between those and the Russian ones. You do have differences in quality when you start looking at the Chinese commercial versions though. Having had both and played with many Russian ones I am totally satisfied with my purchase. The machining quality on the Chinese military version as well as the fit and finish is way better than on the commercial version, IMHO.
Cheers!!

I saw a Chinese one at the local store here, it had the most beautiful stock I've seen on a SKS... looked almost like someone totally refinished it. You have to get both, a Russian and a Chinese. I think it was lighter than my Tula as well.

There are tons around, local gun stores, online, everywhere. Plentiful. Great rifles, made to be shot and treated rough. Shoot the hell out of them and when it dies, get another.
