Looking for any Kodiak SKS-KD owners that can answer a question

When Kodiak mills out the receiver to accept AK magazines, do they remove the original bolt catch channel?
Or would it still be possible to re-install a bolt catch?

The bolt catch channel is there, but the original SKS bolt catch is modified.
