Hi just new to gun nutz. i have someone willing to give ( or sign over ) a 357 mag, model 28 highway patrolman. It was a gun issued to him while a corrections officer in a prison. It has a four inch barrel. i can not find a barrel anywhere in Canada. I found a place in Vancouver that can make me one but it is very expensive and the gun has to be shipped from the east coast, and then back again. Can anyone offer some advice. I don't want this gun to be destroyed.

The best advise is have the current owner do all the leg work because it is easier for him to get the paperwork done. You may not take possession of it until it has been reclassified. If you can get it for free then it may be worthwhile, otherwise as you know it can get very expensive. It might be better to sell it to someone with the proper license and use the money to buy something else.

Yeah he is willing to do all the legwork and then give me the gun. He just wants rid of it. But it's finding a barrel that is the Problem. Other then having it made.

sounds great. do you know if that is the minimum required length? how do i make sure that this sleeve fits? I am trying to contact good smith back on the east coast that can sleeve it.
