I have been disappointed with the terminal ballistic performance of the Hornady 110 Gr. ELD-X in my 257 Weatherby rifle and am looking for alternatives.
Here are my requirements:
Bullet weight between 100 and 120 grs.
Suitable for long shots at live game, between 200 and 500 yards. So good BC
Must expand reliably, even at long range. Initial velocity for a 100 gr. bullet would be about 3550 fps; 3450 for 110 gr. and 3350 for 120 gr.
Must have good structural integrity when impacting at high velocity. The ELD-X is too explosive at those velocities, in my estimation.
I have tried the 110 gr. Interbond, but it does not group satisfactorily in my rifle.
The Nosler Partition is OK, but has a poor BC.
The 100 Gr. TSX shoots well, but I am concerned with copper fouling, and expansion at lower velocities on long shots.
The Nosler 100 gr. E-tip and 110 gr. Accubond appear interesting.
The Swift A-Frame looks good but is too expensive.
Does anyone have hunting experience with either the E-Tip or Accubond in either a 257 Bee or a 25-06? How did they perform.
