Who has in depth knowledge of the AR-15 platform. I need to have the front site check for alignment with gas tube to cure a short stroking 10.5" upper.

I might want to replace with a railed gas block instead

Anyone know anyone?

Hey
It may be an issue of not enough gas making it into the tube due to the short barrel. Muzzle breaks such as the Noveske Kx3 and Dlask XB1 are designed for the short barrel rifle by creating a little back pressure at the muzzle. There are a couple other breaks for shorter rifles as well if you do some shopping arround on sites like questar, One shot and wolverine. I have also seen a very rare case of the gas tube being blocked by a popped primer that jammed into it.
As for the gas block, the AR platform is a very simple rifle to tear down and replace parts providing you have the right tools and you tube of course. There are many great videos on there about installs and tear downs. I hope this helps and if you have any questions feel free to PM me and ill try to help the best i can.

Cheers
Evan

Question Have you lubed the bolt well? The reason I ask is hat we get many "short stroking" issues every week and 99% of these are a direct result of the gun being run dry. Before dickin about with gas block and tube try 2 things. Lube the crap out of the upper and bolt and try different ammo.
If these make no change, THEN look at other sources for the problem.

X 2, Run that thing dripping wet till she's broke in. If that doesn't do it, you have other issues. Hell, oil it up, sit on the couch watching TV while you cycle it a couple hundred times.

What ammunition are you firing. What make of rifle? What weight of buffer? lube condition?
10.5s can be fussy.
