Hi all, looking for one for my old man, as semi in wood and not made by Turkey, China or Russia with budget of $1000, any models that you think of, let me know.

mate, that is a desire of my old man, will not argue why and what for :) if you feel me, I am fan of 3", but he is old school

No worries just curious because in semi there are a lot more 3" options. But what is he using it for Trap, skeet hunting? Duck, goose, crocodile? Will help with shooting you some suggestions.

Ya lol 3 1/2" is very new school..

In a gas auto loader they are not too bad when hunting but 2 1/4 Oz turkey loads are killer on the shoulder.

I've gone back to 3" pumps more than does the job.

But for high volume duck hunting. As in you suck and only kill 1 or two ducks or geese to a box of 25 shells an auto loader makes a great friend.

My favorite are the franchi guns affinity series. Or intensity for 3.5".

I would look for a used beretta Extrema or A300 in black. They pop up now and then on the EE. May be just over your budget but worth it. Not many options in wood due to the 3.5" being marketed to waterfowlers mainly. The preferred finish seems to be camo.

I'll third the versamax. It isn't available in wood as far as I know and it doesn't fit someone of smaller stature very well but if you get the sportsman model it's right around the 1000 mark for price. I've had mine for 6 months and have probably put 750 rounds through it with no issue. Also the 870 tube extensions will fit it if you want to make it fit 5 3 1/2" shells in the tube.

Isn't the sportsman model stamped 3"? (I know they're all actually 3.5" but one model is stamped 3" on the barrel, no?)

I believe mine is stamped with all three, 2 3/4", 3", 3 1/2" if I remember correctly. I'm not around it right now to check though.
