Hey Flex. As Geara said, start with a 22. Most successful shooters have more than 1 for good reason. You can practice with the cheapest caliber invented and either get rid of bad habits or just improve your overall skills without breaking the bank on ammo. Top names in the category are the Browning Buckmark, Ruger Mark 1,2, and 3, High Standard, Smith & Wesson's 422 ( the model 41 is quite expensive ). The GSG 1911 and Smith MP 22 are very good but overall just not as accurate as the others I mentioned, however they do have near identical compatibility with the 1911 and MP 9/40 so that can be an advantage down the road.
