I looking for some advice on valuing a nazi-era Mauser k98 (1938) and a Steyr M95. They came to me in an estate batch and i'm trying to figure out what i have. I know there is a lot of nuance to different years/markings and other factors.

Any advice is welcomed!

The Steyr M95 is a rifle converted to carbine as evidenced by the rifle sight and renumbered stock. Purpose built carbines; there are several versions, had a smaller rear sight. The 'S' stamp designates it as converted to 8mmx56R ammo. The Austro-Hungarians produced variations and sub-variants of the M95. Asking prices on these are all over the map. I've seen $650.- to $1200.- which is nuts.

From the poor photos, the K98 has a Mauser Werke AG, Oberndorf a/N produced receiver. The stock is from a later model and is incorrect for the receiver. The bolt has been polished, can't see if it matches. It is a mix of parts and has been at the very least cosmetically messed with. Most probably a cleaned up Russian capture. Value is around $1500.-

Here is a complete example and a demonstration of how to properly photograph your rifle for evaluation.

The Mauser is not more than 1000 on a good day, the m95, maybe 400-500 imo.

Thank you Captain Sarcasm. I have been on the auction sites and been surfing the forums quite thoroughly of late. Just because your reality doesn't coincide with the market, doesn't make me an 1di0t.

Steyr 1888's $700-$1000.1890 Carbine $1000 range. 1895 are very common $600-$800.
A 98K Russian captures are still selling at stores, today, for $1800 range + 13 percent. Thats 2000 bucks! They sell!
At gun shows $1200 range.

Yes.

I remain puzzled why someone would take all those pics and not include a single full-length photo. Even if it was upside down or rotated 90 degrees like most of the pics are.........

As for RC's, look back 10 years or so and see the "experts" who said they would never be "collectible" and are not worth the $300 they were going for and never will be. I got over $1000 three years ago at an auction. I won't use any of my money buying a gun as an investment for 2-3 years from now, although I might flip one quickly.

It will go for what someone will pay. Ask $500 each and they will be gone in microseconds, $1000 in days, $1500, probably longer, and maybe never. No-one really knows, especially these days.

If you’re asking what they are worth and going for the big flip, the real question is how little did you pay for them!
Let’s hear your big pimping story for Mauser flipping!

haha well when you pay many thousands for a duffel bag of various guns you can divide the total cost by the number of guns in an infinite array of combinations.....but in this case i'm loosing my pants cause i ended up with a handful of expensive restricteds that i don't actually want! thanks trudeau.
