I thought I would turn to the knowledgeable folks located here for some advice for a decent set of hunting Binoculars I was looking at some of the vortex and Nikon offerings in the 8x42 &10x42ish power range and was looking for some other recommendations in the $300-500.
Like most less dollars spent would not hurt my feelings if there are some quality options for less. I have a spotting scope and am not looking to replace it, a lighter pair of bino's that I will carry with me and not leave behind would be nice and low light performance is important. Thanks

Look at these in the EE. I have no connection to the seller

I have a pair of the same model in the 10x42 and they are excellent, they where a $1500 set of glass and recieved top reviews from all sides. I have put mine beside swaro and Zeiss and do not feel like they compare very well. Great quality and excellent eye relief if yo wear glasses.

Yes. I have a B&L spotting scope of similar vintage. I don't need any more binoculars but if I had the money to spare I'd probably buy those B&L 8x42.

Bear in mind that for fall hunting you have to keep them close to your body. Like many of us, I found out the hard way that if your binos are hanging outside your clothing, when you put them up to your face you get instant lens fog (warm face, cold glass). I have a pair of relatively inexpensive Bushnells, and they work just fine.

That's part of why I leave my big porro prism 7x50s in the truck and going afoot I carry a more compact roof prism 6.5x32 tucked inside my outer garment.

Pentax, Pentax, Pentax

I have 10x DCF's, my dad bought smaller and cheaper Pentax AD 10x25WP's from London drugs. (170.00) We were on holidays, in Nova Scotia, Doctors Brook, at a beachfront cabin. From inside the cabin with both binoculars I could see the shore of PEI, make out the Lighthouse beacons before dark, and spot tall communication towers. We watched the lobster fisherman every day with both binoculars and again every boat that I could read with my DCF's I could also read with the smaller WP's. Mine were brighter, and a bit easier to acquire a picture, as they should be, but I'm seriously considering a pair for myself for hunting as they are very light and packable. I was pleasantly surprised. I tried the cheap Bushnells at London Drugs, they were no comparison at all, dark, not clear, with a small field of view.

I’ll second this as good affordable option. My dad has been ising his 10x (dunno which model) Pentax binos for several seasons. They’re actually pretty great!
