In search of hunting rights in the Red Deer area. I moved up here about four years ago and finally with the change in jobs I can get out hunting. Unfortunately other than Crown Land all the places I can go are 4 or more hours away. I plan on trying the door to door approach in about a month but social media works wonders these days.

I'm looking for land to bow & rifle hunt on. Preferably exclusive rights so I can set up cams (and maybe a stand) prior to actually hunting, but I'm aware that is probably hard to find these days. I'm respectful and don't leave a mess. Will respect any requests from landowner over not driving in certain areas, or gates or whatever there may be for requests. I live in Lacombe but more than willing to travel within reason, the four hours I have been is just getting al little much. Will usually be myself and one or two other guys.

Any input or tips will be greatly appreciated!

THANKS IN ADVANCE

You didn't say where you moved from, so I don't know your background, and I am not from Alberta. So my advice is suspect!
Unless Alberta is quite different than Saskatchewan you can't buy hunting rights! You can ask politely, but it is illegal for a landowner to lease hunting rights for money. Game is a public resource, and is available to the public. The landowner has control of access, but does not own the game. It isn't realistic to obtain exclusive hunting rights by asking a landowner for the privilege. Sorry!

I moved from southern Alberta to Central. And i'm not trying to buy land rights, just looking to see if anyone knows of any good spots before I start my driving around talking to owners.

Also, I know tons of guys with exclusive rights, a lot of landowners I know personally only allow one or two hunters on their property a year, I had exclusive down where I used to live but its too far of a drive I'd prefer closer to home.

I'm obviously grabbing a county map and heading out to talk to landowners just thought the internet might give me a head start on where to go first.
