I have an older single shot, bolt action .22 and the only markings I can find is it says "Hiawatha" on the barrel.

Can anyone fill me in on the history of the maker of this plinker?

The reason I am asking, is it shots straight as a laser, but I can not get it to eject the spent shell by itself. I have to pull out the spent shell with a knife edge, finger nail etc....I believe its the extractor claw that is worn out but without knowing a history, don't know where to start to get it repaired......

Thanks for your help guys and gals, you guys know more about this stuff than I will ever hope to know...

Your 22 was made by Cooey for Macleods. It was available in a boys gun(model 39) or man sized with a 27" barrel(model 75) . Take the gun to any qualified gunsmith and he'll know where to get an extractor. If you have no gunsmith in your area send me a PM for places you could mail your bolt to.-----Cowboy

I have the same gun, a cooey copy, same extraction problem too, I bought a new extractor at a gun show, get the black ones not the grey ones. Black ones are original parts and seem to last longer. Also be careful when doing the install as it is easy to snap the spring.
