Hey fellas, looking for some insight or expert advice.

I am looking for a 1x illuminated optic with a mill-dot or rangefinder crosshair not a red dot.

I am aiming to put a 3x or 4x magnifier behind it with a flip mount.

Does anyone on here know of any specific optics that come with a 5.56 crosshair? I have looked around and found a few 3x prism optics but nothing with a full crosshair.

thanks in advanced.

Closest I can think of is something from Primary Arms with their ACSS reticle, (SLX/GLX 1x Prism, MD-21 red dot) or the Holosun 503G which also utilizes the same reticle. Alternatively you can get any red dot or holo and pair it with a PA SLX 3x magnifier which has a built-in ranging reticle.

Leupold turned out a compact prismatic 1X for both tactical carbines and turkey shotguns. I believe they disappeared as fast as Beta tapes but they were a rather nice site. One could be probably found on ebay.

I would be all over such an optic if one existed. And I swear they used to 20 years ago or so. Simple tube, etched crosshair BDC reticle, no illumination. But I’m starting to wonder if I imagined them as I’ve never been able to find one since.

As to why, I have astigmatism so the etched reticle is a must for me. I find prism sights either fish eye on the edges, have near-unusable short eye relief or aren’t true 1x and are therefore wonky to use with both eyes open.

That said, I use a LPVO on most of my rifles and leave it on 1x unless I need to make a longer shot. But having the option of no native magnification is nonetheless attractive.
