Looking for info on 30-30 brass??

A friend asked if I had some 30-30 brass so I dug thru and found some .When I was sorting by head stamps I notices the S&W brass had a large and thicker rim than Imperial and winchester

I was wondering (because I don't load 30-30 ) was the cartridge changed or was the thicker rim made for a specific gun ? any info on why they are like this ??

30-30 headspaces on the rim. If the rim is thicker a rifle might not close on it.

My 3030 has very tight headspace and some lots of 30-30 brass won't work. I check every round before taking it on a hunt.

30-30 Winchester allowable rim thickness is .063 to .053
30--30 Winchester headspace is .063 min to .070 max

Most American SAAMI cases tend to made closer to minimum specs, rims around .058 and the cases having a small base diameter.
