I picked up a model 1924 mauser built in 1933 it has the Mauser crest and the rest of it is a frankenstein pile of war era parts including the late war era stock. The reciever and barrel have no military markings and appear to have the original finish, but it does have the bayonet lug. I think this was just a put together rifle from spare parts. I havent been able to find much information on these and I am thinking of putting a scope on it and making a sniper clone as the bore on it is excellent. If it has historical significance I obviously won't disfigure it with the scope mounts.

Is the serial number 50### and stamped "Standard Modell 1924" on the side rail? If so, you have a fine shooter. I recommend that you do not scope it as it is a pre WW2 Mauser banner contract receiver.

Yeah this +1

adding a scope will devalue your rifle and also destroy its original configuration for ever. Just use the iron and you have your self a very nice shooter. Pics????

Thanks for the reply's guys, I will put up pics in the morning. It is stamped standard model 1924 on the side rail with the mauser logo on the reciever with 1933 stamped below, the finish is amazing on the reciever and barrel, it looks like it just left the factory and the bore is the same it looks brand new. I am not sure of the serial # but I will let you know when I dig it out to take pics. I will keep it in its original form then, I wasn't sure of the value or significance because it is such a mix master of parts. I guess now I will have to track down more authentic parts to see if I can get it back in original configuration, I needed a winter project anyway.
