Looking for info on G36

They are not for sale over the counter. It's a military firearm, and per german law, HK isnt allowed to sell it to civilians. Those in circulation in Canada were either destined to the movie industry or as demos for police forces, can't remember wich. You can send a PM to Strangeday. He has one. He might have sold it though. Beware sticker shock.
 
There's a couple of them floating around Canada. There were some imported for other uses that were sold to the civilian market against the policy that they were originally sold for.

They go for about $6000/each
 
Its about a $12.00 gun - with a ridiculous surcharge for being 1) Hk 2) Unobtainium

I paid less for my Hk416's than some people paid for one G36 -- and mine dont crack...

As I imported them, I can tell you that this quote is untrue. Although imported through a special licence, there was NEVER any restriction to sell into the civilian market as they are semi-auto only. HK made two special runs for us and the second wa scancelled for obvious reasons.

As for "other" purposes, we also sold a dozen full auto to movie armourers.

I have seen one of the FA ones... To be honest I was not that impressed.

Now if if we were talking Tommy guns or Rock and roll Ar15 models....:D

(Luck as I really don't have $6k for a gun at the moment)
 
I think the G36 is a great rifle to own, if you can affort it, I think you should get one. They are not easy to get but they are great to shoot. It's true that you can get an SL8 conversion but I had one before and when you start buying all the parts to make it look like a real G36, it add up pretty quick...

I saw G36C barrel go for over 1500$ in the states, add the TN stock or the conversion block and your conversion will cost you up to 4-5K$...

I stand corrected and apologize. That was what I thought to have been the original story I heard as to how they made their way into civilian hands. Dealers have been known to have their wee-wees spanked for doing things like this :)

No harm done. There were too many false stories and jealous accusations going around CGN at the time of the shutdown of the United Sports Shooting Range. I merely thought to correct the innuendo still fying around.

the inuendo about the movie guns weren't the ones you brought in. those were other ones brought in by someone else.
having fired a few G36's with a few thousand through each of the 3 (or was it only 2 and some other HK FA? can't honestly remember, was a long day), I think they handle great under full auto, but suck beyond that. Controls dig into your trigger finger if you have big hands, the included optic was horrid. ergo's were not that great (except for full auto like I said above). an AR or a PE90 would be a far better investment and return on your money spent.

I guess they (HK) finally stopped sending.

PS. Looks like the PWEU (OPP) will finally be releasing all the inventory they stole from USSR on April 10, 2003. That means in about a month, I will be given it all back and that includes AR's, SL-8's, Norinco Shotguns, SKS's, HK P7's, and alot more. Where shall I post all of this on CGN? Although my dealer licence may also be returned, it may not and it will all be transferred to my personal licence. Any info would be good.
