I'm currently looking at purchasing night sights for my G17.
I've seen a few out there and am curious as to what your experiences are with these if any.

Truglo Tritium Glock Sight

Trijicon Night Sights

Meprolight Tru-Dot Fixed Night Sights

Any info is appreciated and photos are a bonus. Not too familiar with the fiber optic ones but I'm definitively into smaller, less bulky sights.

Cheers!:D:D

I've run plain three dot night sights, TruGlo TFO (tritium and fibre optic) as well as factory white outline and currently XS big dots. In order from lease desirable to most. Factory, plain tritium, TFO, and XS.

Any brand name tritium sights will be good to go. The difference comes in what colours you want and what style. Classic three dot are common and easily sourced. Some folks swear by contrasting rear sight colour with front, usually orange/yellow rear and always green front. IMO, it makes no difference. Some folks swear by only a tritium front and plain rear. I disagree, as a plain rear makes positive sight alignment near impossible in the dark.

The TFO sights were extremely bright under all conditions. Tritium for night, fiber optic for day. They're slightly longer than standard tritium sights but no larger in any other respect.

The intensity/brightness is not exaggerated.

The XS sights get mixed reviews and its usually because the user hasn't given them a chance or they don't understand their purpose. I tried them quite a few years ago and was luke warm on the idea. I tried them again in recent years(sh*t, that was 5 years ago already) and have switched all my pistols over. XS sights excel at rapid engagements and moving targets. They are not designed for slow fire, accuracy based shooting. That's not to say they can't be shot accurately, but they don't lend themselves well to the task. XS sights are designed for defensive use. That being fast shots with less than ideal sight picture under less than ideal conditions. For competition I find they work just fine. If you're after precision, don't run XS sights.

As far as adjustable sights go. I'll be the first to say it. If you run adjustable sights, you suck and need to work on the fundamentals. There is no need for adjustable sights on a handgun used at ranges inside 50 yards.

Hope that helps.

Excellent info! I'm not interested in adjustable sights, TFO`s too big and I`m not really in love with them. are you by any chance able to post a photo or two of your setup?
Thanks for the links, they helped a lot!

Cheers!

Here you go;
Left to Right: Trijicon HD Sight, TRUGLO Tritium/Fiber Optic Sights, TRUGLO Tritium Night Sight, Glock Factory Plastic Sights.

Truglo Tritium sights are the brightest, and provide a good sights picture but Trijicons are really 'glowing' on me a lot too. I really like the wide and deep U notch, and the large front sight dot works quite well during the day.

Thank you. I really wanted to see the top side view with all the different sights. Are those the smallest fiber optic sights available? I don't mind the rear one bu the front is too long for me. 8 )

Thanks again mate!
