I talked to a young man who wants to sell me his father's guns with his father's blessing.
They are all on the old green slips not the new system, I am in the 12-6 class.
I haven't seen the guns but he said one is a S&W model 29 in the case he thinks it may be a 4inch model.
Can I buy it if it is on the old green registration paper if it is a prohibited model?
Thanks
Al

Yes I am in 12-5, but I meant to put 12-6 my mistake.

You said 12-5, or did you mean 12-6? 12-5 has nothing to do with handguns
I know some have been , I also know that some are a PITA, depending on who your CFO is .
They do like to keep track of all the old ones that they lost track of. It will still be in the old system.
i had one pop up last year from the 1980's

im surprised they did not get moved into the new system.
i had a couple pistols on the old green cards and they all got migrated over to the new system.
in this day and age they may do better to just be quiet...... the world seems to have moved on without them and forgotten about them.

Should be good especially if he has the actual green slips. They lost stuff all the time changing over to electronic records

Easily done as being a 12.6 it can be done directly to a 12.6 holder. Just initiate a regular transfer having the registered owner start and you finish off for any/all of the guns involved. It will be brought forward into new system without a problem. The buyer needs to be able to provide the info originally submitted on the green form in order to confirm(address at time of regn if possible etc). As mentioned above a lot of old records have vanished and not uncommon for the previous owners to fail to bring forward into new system as they were not aware.

I don't think they will re-register what would be 12(6) [prohibited category] handguns that were not already updated into the new registration system from the old green slip system by the previous owner.

But you should confirm this with the CFC, which I'm sure you will.

NAA.

The owner is selling me another 29 with a longer barrel plus a Python, Contender in 45/410, and colt Frontier Scout. 22.
The 29s haven't been shot much, the Python has been used quite a bit, and the Scout show use but not as much as the Python.
The Contender appears to be unused and the 10 inch barrel is still in the box.

It can be done I have done it with 12 (6) under old green slips system
as long as you have the green slip in front of you and the FA when you and executor
call RCMP CFC /a CFO or AFO (area firearms officer)
can look up into the old system to find it and move it to the new system.
as long as you have 12 (6) RPAL.
might be a delay now due to covid min staffing at CFO/CFP CFC
