Hi,
Looking for a supplier of ivory grips, mastodon or elephant for a 1911. Anyone this side of the boarder supply these?

you won't find elephant ivory as it's been a controlled substance for many decades now. Any still out there is that old, and priced accordingly. (close to 1000 for a set of panels)
Mastadon ivory is around and a bit cheaper, somewhere between half and a third this price

What your can get is a few different varieties of horn/antler that look very similar, or polished bone...of these, the bone is the cheapest, and looks good. There are several makers of faux ivory, some is very good, some is poor, check the reviews.

Nutmeg Sports in the US makes ivory grips for Colt. They use pre- ban ivory, which is permitted in the US but not up here. Nutmeg will NOT ship to Canada. However if you have a US address to ship to, you could use that as a relay station. I have 2 Colts with Nutmeg ivories and the quality is outstanding!!
 
Go on Ebay, you can get 1911 water buffalo bone grips, hand crafted in Thailand for $39 USD, looks awesome on my Ruger SR1911.

and if they see them at the border they will confiscate, and your charged with importing a controlled substance....go with the bone, or the faux ivory
 
I see there are lots from Thailand (water buffalo bone), even with inset Colt medallions, at $29.99.

**Be sure to set your search (under "advanced" search settings, to the right of the big blue "search" button) to only show items available to Canada. Some sellers will NOT ship to Canada, particularly if it goes through the US.**
 
Here's some of the water buffalo bone grips from Thailand $32 off of ebay. Fit and look great, I'd gladly buy again.
