find a metals recycling place in your area, look online for the price of scrap wheel weights. Call and see if you can buy from them, scrap price can be anywhere from 30-40 cents. They will probably offer to sell to you for 2-3x that amount. Don't be afraid to haggle, you should be able to get a hundred pounds easily. And remember down rigger balls are heavy, that's why you need some more. you lost the ones you had.

Tire shops are still the most successful route I've seen, by far.
Avoid the chains and franchise locations. Avoid the well-known shops in small towns. Seek out the small, independent shops run by immigrant families in the dingy parts of the city. Don't be discouraged when the first few say no, it only takes a couple of buckets a year to make a lot of bullets.
