Hey guys,

I have wanted an AR15 type rifle for a while now. I know there are several different makers, barrel lengths, and models. But to be honest, I really do not know a lot about them. I have only shot a couple, and both were 9mm conversions.

I want something tactical, with a shorter barrel and red dot sight. I have noticed many have railing to add lights, scopes etc. Where do I get all this stuff and how much does it cost? Should I just buy an M4 and then customize it? or buy a used one that is already set up.

I am a real AR newbie, so any help is apreciated. I need to know the basics, what is a good maker? any I should stay away from? I do NOT want anything norinco.

Just buy the Rock River Arms A4 carbine from questar, its cheap well made and perfect to upgrade.
Dlask might be having a sale on some of their AR's but quality is kind of hit and miss.Since your in surrey just drive down to dlasks place on annacis island and handle all the variations of the AR platform, and choose from there.

I've been pondering the same thing for about a week now. I've finally decided to get one of the 10.5" RRA uppers, and am putting it on a stag lower I'm hopefully trading my enfield for.
I get the feeling this AR gig is gonna get pricey fast :D

Thanks for the info, what is "dlask's" place? Is it a gun store or a dealer?

What is the going price range for a basic A4 carbine?

As for the tacticool gear, many dealers on this forum and individual sellers in the EE sell rails, flash lights etc... But honestly, save your $ get some nice optics and ammo...
;)

Joe Dlask is a firearms manufacturer here in BC, just google dlask arms.
Often times you can get a pretty good deal from him if you deal with him face to face.
Look at the DAR rifles on his site (Dlask AR Rifle)
You could no doubt configure one to suit your needs there.
