I've got a request from a friend in Europe for some 38 SA comp brass anyone know of a source and price here in Canada?

I am a bit confused by the SA part of the request, as I have no idea on what all the different 38 brass for Open can be. Thanks for all the replies.

Generally, they refer to 38SA as 38 super auto, but I don't know if the comp brass means he's looking for 38 super comp or 38 super brass for competition. Sounds like you need to ask him if he wants rimmed or rimless brass.

generally, price will be better for him if he can get a US source. A Canadian source will have come from US originally, so he's paying export fees twice if he buys from Canada instead I'd the US

Thanks Chris I will ask those questions. Getting brass out of the USA is apparently part of the problem.

But...the European will have to deal with ITAR if coming direct from the US, whereas ITAR will have been dealt with by the Canadian importer (who was required to commit to not export the product from Canada) and once Rob acquires it from that importer; (Rob is under no such commitment to not export) he will be able to get it to Europe.

Its convoluted, but what probably what the European buddy is trying to accomplish.

Sean is probably bang on, but I'm not sure if I can legally export the brass???? I will have to contact export control I guess.

FWIW I have sent brass down to a buddy in the US marked xyz Calber range brass with a stated value and it has always got by US Customs. Once the package was opened by them and still sent on. Does anyone know if I broke a Canadian Law in doing so or do the rules apply to the manufacturer and not hobbyists?

Take Care

Bob
