Looking For Opinions On A Tasco Scope v.Help Me Please

Im looking for scopes for my 17 HMR project and one of the ones I have in mind are the Tasco TG104050DS I've used a 24X from this line and its a nice scope for the money. But this is all new stuff to me so I'd like to hear some opinions, pros and cons, positives and negatives, about this scope. Is a 40X over kill for a 17? I like the fact its adjustable from 10 to 40... kinda covers all bases ya know?

I have the 2.5X10 mildot on my 17HMR (2 years). I have found it ideal for hunting and target work. The mildot is great for hold overs. If you just want to punch paper the 6X24 will be better.

I just bought one of those 10-40 Tascos off of CGN member odd6hunter. He said it was too much for his 17HMR! Maybe pm him and find out his opinion in greater detail.
