Looking for opinions on choosing a .223 rifle

I picked up a Mossberg MVP in 223 late last fall when I had to order a new barrel for my 22-250. I was quite surprised how accurate it is for a non-high end rifle. I'm good up to 300 yards for with 75gr steel match bullets for coyotes, Half of them drop on the spot while others make it about 30 feet. For a spare/stand-by rifle I got a lot more than what I was expecting.

my experience is great with the MVP also. It is WAY more solid than the naysayers here. It takes 15 round removable magazines. (5 round Beowolf AR mags) which will be great for finding a herd of pigs. The stock is awesome. Fluted barrel/bolt. Mine shot a 0.55" group yesterday with factory Winchester white box 45gr . It also shot American eagle 55gr FMJ into 1". This is factory ammo I had on hand just to try it out for function. To be honest, I also have a 5-15x40 Bushnell Elite Tactical scope on it which helps. This gun has a 1:9" twist.
The weatherby (although I love the vanguards) only comes with a 1:12" twist in .223 , so you will be limited in the ammo it can shoot well. Probably only 60 grain bullets at best.
The Ruger American has the almost required 1:9" twist, but I am not a fan of plastic fantastic stocks, and I found the Ruger stock a bit to flimsy and sharp edged. First thing I thought of was that it would probably suck with a bipod unless the fore end was stiffened up with arrow shafts and epoxy.
My pick of the three would be the Mossberg. (although I am no fan of Savage guns, they just plain shoot. The Hog Hunter was on my list as a big maybe until the MVP came up used at a good price.

The vanguard actually has a 1:9 twist. That was a requirement for me.

here is a 5 shot group at 100 yards with an axis in.223.not a target rifle but respectable for what it is.

I like my used CZ but it is an American with the 12" twist. With CZ I believe it must be a Varmint model for 9". If you look at a used one beware.

I just searched the CZUSA site and it seems all the CZ527s are now 9" twist. I really like the carbine model but right hand only.

I know Kawicrash already bought his new rifle a few months ago but I just wanted to toss in that I really like my Weatherby S2 - I got it on sale for just over $500, put a decent scope on it and it's one of my favorite rifles now. The safety took a bit of getting used to, but other than that it's a great little gun. I actually prefer the weight, it allows for practice with a hunting-weight rifle without the cost of a hunting-lead rifle :p

Now just need a few more buddies with gopher pastures :)
