I'm planning a Ruger No.1 build ... looking at custom stock with a full length fore end, octagonal barrel - possibly tapered, maybe even 1/2 octagon, 1/2 round... not sure. Basically I found myself with some extra bits & want to build up something for long distance (over 300m) target possibly L/D hunter.
I'm going for a Germanic Jaeger type look and to complete that I need some (somewhat) period ~looking~ optics. Something in the vein of an externally adjusted Fecker, Unertl, Lyman Targetspot type scope.
I was looking at https://montanavintagearms.com who make some items that would certainly fit the bill (I have seen a couple listed on EE here once) but they only go up to 6x power.
Has anyone had any experiences (good or bad) with these scopes?
Is anyone else making these types of scopes that will fit the look/application?
Anyone have any thoughts on which scope should be mounted on there?
Just to complicate things ~ have not settled on a calibre as of yet either. Being a No.1, seeing as strong an action as that is, I do not see any limitations
