Trying to setup a scope on a rifle for a buddy. He has Vortex Razor gen 1 which is 35mm main tube to go on a Tikka Tac a1. Looks like will need 1.5" of height to get enough clearance according to what i have researched with guys mounting this optic on a continuous rail. None of the vortex pmr rings are high enough. Was able to find a few solutions with one piece badger and adm mounts from brownells but not able to find anything here in Canada. Anyone know of anything up here or should i just try to see if they will ship them and deal with the import charges when it arrives.

Thanks

please correct me if i am wrong but the scope is 2.2" dia. so half of that is 1.165". that would be touching directly on the rail. So to get a scope cap on and have a bit of wiggle room i would think that a minimum of about 1.275" needed. (allowing .100 for scope cap and .01 extra wiggle). The tallest vortex is 1.26" i dont know if that would be enough to gamble the money/time on and see if it fits. Will likely go with slightly taller one piece mount. With the price of those vortex pmr rings i'm thinking its prob makes more sense to get a nice solid badger or adm one piece mount

Unless I'm missing something half of 2.2" is 1.1", is it not?

Objective of the scope will likely clear the rail....so you wouldn't then need all that height. Best is to have all the pieces in front of you and get accurate measurements and buy the right rings.....

The vortex high rings worked for me with the same scope, I’ve since switched rifles and had to order lower rings. I still have my high ones.....

On a normal rail (short 6-8" long) yes but a full length rail that travels up the barrel the objective will still touch. I ran into a similar situation with my cadex chassis as it is also equipped with a full length rail.

American Defense Manufacturing (ADM) has 35mm rings for their 1 piece mounts. RDSC can backorder whatever is not currently in stock

I've been a big fan of ADM's mounts lately and slowly migrating towards 1 piece on some of my rifles. I like the option to swap ring sizes on a existing mounts when needed, but the return to zero of their QD mounts is what piqued my interest.
