Hey there,

I was hoping to get some advice or recommendations regarding a practical long range class or classes. Looking to get some training for casual PRS and potentially up my long range hunting game. Ideally they would be in southern Alberta or SE British Columbia. I'm not terribly interested in bench rest or F Class type shooting, though what those guys can do is Hella impressive.

Thanks!

Call sign 66 offers great classes also Rob Furlong Long range academy.
I would recommend just attending a couple matches and get shooting. Many guys help the newer guys out and let you try stuff out. Make sure you enjoy it then take some courses

Thanks for the advice guys! I'm not going to let the class dates hold me back from entering an event, but I'm a big believer in training and my positional shooting (along other things) would definitely benefit from instruction. I'll reach out to both instructors and see what they have available.

Callsign 66 guys are well versed in PRS/NRL and Riflemans Team Challenge types of matches. They are more then willing to help you out.

C/S 66 is probably your best bet for PRS style shooting. Also, attending a couple of matches, even if you dont shooting, would be very beneficial. Just talking to experienced shooters and seeing how every works (or doesnt) would be useful.

I emailed CS66 earlier this week, no response yet. The curriculum seems like it would fit the bill. If I could get I with them that would be ideal as it sounds like they also run classes close to Calgary. They don't have a lot scheduled for 2019 yet though.

If you're willing to travel to sw bc (hope area), you could look into rangetech.ca. It's positional/angular shooting in the mountains with multiple wind directions (like shooting over a windy bowl and landing in a windy valley).

Ranges are not dependent on calibre. You will push your calibre much farther then you think you can.
