Hello all! My first post here, coming over from the surplusrifleforum under the same screen name. I have the chance to pickup a Canadian 1905 Mk.II Ross for a really good price. It's not a Commercial version, but a Military rifle bubba got his hands on. Luckily it just needs a new stock set and both bands to be returned to military shape. However stocks are very hard to find here in the USA. I was told by a few guys that the "gun nutz" over at this forum might be of better help in finding me a Ross stock set. :) So if anyone has any leads on one, or has one they'd like to sell please let me know! You can email me directly at thomasbussell25@yahoo.com

By the way, what do you all feel the going rate for a 1905 Mk.II Ross in sportered shape. As I said, all that's been done to it is a restocking in a really nice sporter stock. The metal is unharmed condition, barrel has not been chopped.

Original Stocks basically impossible to find in Canada, I think there is a fellow making repro stocks in the USA but for big money. Metal bits with some hard work can be found. Cut-down Ross from $75.00 to $150.00.

If what you really wanted in the first place was a full Military Ross, in the long run you would be better off timewise and dollarwise to buy one that hasn't been molested by Bubba.
There are a couple on offer on GunBroker.com right now, and I have five or six complete originals available here in Dixie (both US and Canadian Contract rifles.)
Sell your Bubbagun on to someone who just wants a sporter.

Actually I enjoy taking the time and funds (within reason with the funds) to restore bubba'd rifles. And if done right, with enough patience and research sometimes it comes out cheaper than buying a full stocked Military one. So yes, my intent is to own a full stocked Ross. They are very interesting rifles! :)

Markdevcanada, sending you a PM regarding who the stock duplicator guy is.

If it's Mike Kokalus, he indicated to me he wasn't interested in doing more Ross stocks.

Rossguy is right...read his advice carefully. A restored rifle is worth about 1/2 or so of an original. Ross parts are really hard to get.

Bump bump bump - anyone know of any copier in canada or the states who can copy the ross's amazing 49 inch stock?? So far everyone's said it's too big... (I know, I get that a lot)

I have emails for Deplicators of Canadian and Americans if that helps. but i do not have a stock.

Gunfreak: i'm Talquin on the surplusrifleforum , there is a dealer on that site who can duplicate if you can find a stock in the States. Jarjar recently had one pass through his hands. see if he can help.

"Pops Gunstocks" on the surplusrifleforum will duplicate stocks for forum members only. I asked him and he said $250 would get you a Ross stock set made of walnut, but he'd need one to copy off of first and I've yet to find anyone willing to lend out their precious stock set off of their own rifle.

A friend of mine has a stock duplicating service here in Calgary. Though his tastes do not really run to military surplus firearms, he does appreciate them, and does offer duplication of military woodwork. I asked him about the length of the Ross stock. "No problem" he says.

Prices quoted on his website indicate it would be at least $250 plus the cost of wood, but he hasn't seen a Ross stock so if there's still interest based on the figure quoted above I'll get him to join the conversation here. Would still require a template stock. I have a Mk II I could probably be convinced to loan to the cause, but not a Mk III (but I'm looking) :D
