I would suggest a scope with a long eye relief like the 3-9 x 40 mm Zeiss Conquest. It has 4” of constant eye relief. I had a Ruger 1 and even with extended rings found I still had to lean forward a little when shooting...
I have a VX-II Leupy in 2-7X33, and the eye relief is very good. It is on top of my #1H in 405 Winchester, and it soaks up the recoil without a hickup.
I have a Tasco 4x12 on my .223 and extended or set back rings it works fine. I would love a #1 in .270 but not this year. You are a lucky dog Durango320...ST...
I had a Bushnell 4200 in the 6-16 range I think and even with setbacks it was still too short. The Nikon Prostaff or Monarch (cant remember which at this time) has a 1 inch longer tube and same eye relief as most other scopes and that worked very well. That extra inch saved the day. Great optics too.
