I'm new to the rimfire rifle game and I'm looking for scope recommendations.

Distances that I will be shooting vary from 25m to 200m.

Just wondering what magnification ranges are recommended, how many MOA in elevation adjustment should it have, etc.

Suggestions for specific models would be appreciated as well.

Check out the Sightron STAC 3 Series. I picked one up last year, really nice, great reticle with hash marks you can use for different ranges. It's on my .22 Savage bolt action.

I believe i got the 3-16x42 with MOA 3 reticle.

I've got an old leupold varix iii 6.5-20 efr on a cz 455.
using rws ammo zeroed for 25y, 6.25moa/100y and 22.75moa/200y.
Using burris zee rings with inserts I can probably get out to 275yds with it before running out of elev. Scope has approx. 50moa total adjustment.

What is your budget?

If you get interested in rimfire PRS, the scope demands are higher then centerfire wrt to travel. There is CRPS which does go out beyond 300m. Tracking of the scope better be very reliable as you will have to have precise dope for every 10 yrds or you likely go over/under the target.

Most PRS shooters prefer to use mil adjustments... just easier math when calculating on the clock but MOA works too if you are familiar with the math. Ball park will put you 14.5 to 16.5 mils out to 300m depending on ammo and set up.... you will need a scope with proper target turrets and zero stop comes in handy.

Xmas tree reticles will be a big aid for the type of tasks you will face.... and FFP scopes make this easier to use. mag really isn't a big need and most will run 10 to 16X for most stages. however, on a prone KYL stage, you may enjoy being able to crank up to 24X and beyond for more precise aiming.

I would lean you to Athlon familiy of optics for all the features and very affordable pricing. Been competing with them for a couple of seasons and they really impress with how well they work.

Please send me an email to discuss further.

Jerry
